CSIRTAmericas — a hemispheric incident response network

Helping 30+ nations share threat intelligence and respond to incidents together.

The problem

National Computer Security Incident Response Teams across the Americas operated with very uneven capability and limited shared visibility into threats crossing their borders.

Threat intelligence that stays inside one country is worth a fraction of what it is worth shared.

What I did

Contributed to developing CSIRTAmericas, a hemispheric network of National CSIRTs that exchanges cybersecurity threat information, provides technical assistance, trains specialists and strengthens regional incident response capacity.

Designed instruments to evaluate how OAS Member State CSIRTs actually used the network's services, then ran a study to identify concrete service improvements.

Performed functional testing in the MISP (Malware Information Sharing Platform) CSIRTAmericas laboratory and authored supporting material to make MISP adoption straightforward for Member State teams.

Helped organise capacity-building workshops, cybersecurity exercises and regional events.

Outcome

Increased cybersecurity capability among OAS Member States through a working information-sharing network rather than isolated national efforts.

Produced evidence-based recommendations for improving the network's services, grounded in how Member State CSIRTs used them in practice.

Lowered the adoption barrier for MISP across the region.
